Kawasaki ZRX1200R Battery Location…

Although the Kawasaki ZRX1200 battery is in a similar place to most other bikes, it is a bit tucked away and hidden. Hopefully this post will help anyone struggling to get access to the battery.

Note – The battery location should be the same for all the ZRX1200 models (not just the R).

Firstly, you’ll need to remove the seat as the battery is located under the front part of the seat.
The seat lock is operated by a key and the lock is located in the top/right corner of the left side panel.

Under the seat, towards the front you can see the airbox, just below the airbox is a square black plastic access panel with a thumb release clip at the top.
Press the release to lever the panel back to remove it.

With the access panel removed the battery can be slid forward (this is easier to do then it sounds, theres not alot of space not much free play on the battery leads!)

ZRX1200 battery terminals exposed

With the access panel removed the battery terminals can be accessed.

Note – If your removing the battery remember to disconnect the red (positive/+) lead first.

Note – The pic above is showing the battery with the airbox cover removed, you don’t have to remove the airbox cover to access the battery but you will need to remove the airbox panel to remove the battery.

The battery used in the ZRX1200 (YTX14-BS).

If you need to replace the battery the code for the battery is ‘YTX14-BS‘ (which is the same as CTX14/GTX14/ETX14-BS etc. More info…)
